About Delphinus

This will be the online "diary" of our sailing trip - we leave in January for the Caribbean for six months, and then on to the Chesapeake Bay in June when hurricane season arrives - there we hope to spend five months.

Our sailboat is Delphinus (Latin for dolphin and also a constellation in the northern sky). She is a 44 foot Endurance, a bluewater boat meant for long distance and deepwater sailing. She will be our new home for the next 11 or so months.

My husband, Phillip, sailed her over from the UK to the US (before we met), up and down the east coast of the US and down to Venezuela. We were also married on Delphinus in May 2007. He always said he wanted us to take some time off and go sailing - but I never quite believed it would happen. 2008 was a bad year, and it made me really want to take a break from land-life, spend more time with Phillip, and have some FUN - hopefully our family and friends will come over and visit us and have some fun too.
